There appears to have been some interruption of growth and self-healing of the crystalline structure to this fascinating Vesuvianite specimen. The specimen exhibits an overall heart shape from at least two angles. The occurrence of some smooth and lustrous surfaces and faces is representative of a higher quality Vesuvianite specimen, differing from the norm of what is usually available from this location. Rich hues of yellow-gold, yellow-green, honey-brown color.
The majority of Vesuvianite crystals of this type that are found larger in size frequently show considerable roughness with numerous pitting. While this specimen does show a rougher, dull contact area, other faces and facets appear to have had contact with other crystals or matrix and exhibit interesting self-healed structure with a presentation of a fine luster.
