Marcasite Stalactite Sax Form Metallic Iridescent 16g
Sax and mineral enthusiast?
We're jazzed about this one!
Here is a cool Marcasite Stalactite formation, exhibiting not only an overall fun saxophone presence, but also intriguing brassy, metallic luster orthorhombic crystals, some twinned, and others iridescent, hence the flash of colors as the piece is put in motion. Yes, Iowa does have some interesting minerals!
The discovery of these is relatively recent, and was quite a surprise to those that saw these curious, bendy, twisty formations of marcasite. We can only imagine what the spaces look like where these are growing!
16 grams. 2.20" x .87" x .54" or 56mm x 22.1mm x 13.8mm
Source / location: Linwood Mine, Buffalo, Scott County, Iowa, USA
