Fluroite SuperNova Pocket, Newer Find!
Larger piece with lots of Quartz, penetrating twins, Truly an Exceptional Stand-out Specimen!
268grams, .588lbs, 3.16" x 2.79" x 1.71"
Diana Maria Mine, Frosterley Weardale, Co. Durham England. SF19

“The Supernova Pocket is a westerly extension of the Milky Way Pocket and is so named to maintain the astronomical link. A supernova is the term given to an exploding star, appropriate to this pocket for its proximity to the Milky Way Pocket and for the dazzling, starburst effect of lustrous Quartz crystals which characterize these Fluorites. The Milky Way’s purple and white Fluorite gives way to a dominant mid-sea to dark forest green, while displaying daylight fluorescence of equal purple intensity. Crystallised Quartz is ubiquitous with the Supernova Fluorite, occurring as microcrystalline druses or terminated single glassy crystals.”
