Large Amethyst Flower Elongated UV Reactive Calcite 311g 6"

This is a sensational, large, overall fan shaped Quartz variety Amethyst Flower formation exhibiting beautiful, complex growth and elongated, well formed Calcite crystals. 6.14" x 4.28" x 1.81" or 156.1mm x 108mm x 45.9mm. Definitely not your usual or conventional Amethyst specimen, this exceptional piece presents with fascinating size, form and color. Zonation of the Amethyst varies from sort of colorless to white to violet-purple. The Calcite crystals in this gorgeous piece are very reactive, fluorescing a captivating orange-pink color when exposed to UV light. Numerous translucent to less common almost transparent Calcite crystals, some double-terminated, have grown in random directions. The Calcite exhibits wonderful pointed pyramidal, and flattened pyramidal terminations. Double-terminated Calcite crystals with flattened pyramidal terminations are rare in Quartz variety Amethyst Flower specimens.

Both the Amethyst and Calcite crystals present variably, some with smooth facets and faces, others with sort of lightly frosted, stippled surfaces and facets.  However, a majority of the faces on the terminations of the Calcite crystals have excellent luster, show a beautiful shine. Some of the Calcite crystals were lost during the extraction of this extraordinary example of Amethyst; this is understandable because the mining of Amethyst Flower formation specimens with elongated Calcite crystals is sometimes challenging work, especially due to the randomness of the placement of the crystals on the piece and the tight spaces in which they grow.  Given the size, unusual formation and presentation of the crystals, and the degree of difficulty to extract large specimens like this one, this is truly a less common, quality Amethyst Flower piece. An excellent one for your collection or to give as a gift.  311 grams.

6.14" x 4.28" x 1.81" or 156.1mm x 108mm x 45.9mm.
