Rutile Geniculate Twin on Quartz North Carolina 59g

This is an excellent example of larger sized, thicker, well formed geniculate twin*, nicely terminated rutile. This substantial, robust, less common variety of rutile from North Carolina exhibits a considerably different and impressive presence. Great metallic luster too.

* A geniculate twin crystal is one that presents with twinned form showing that the twin-plane has significantly changed the shape of the crystal.  Also referenced as a "knee or elbow twin".
