This is an excellent, red-orange color dominate, quality Moroccan Agate specimen with a polished face that presents with banding, an attractive crystalline pocket and hematite along a large part of the edge of the agate.  3.97" x 2.39" x 1.28" or 100.9mm x 60.7mm x 32.5mm. Some of the beautiful features of this agate include eye popping bright red banding and swirling white layered formations.,  The hematite structures in this agate present with a metallic gleam when the specimen is turned in the light. White quartz var. chalcedony areas in this Moroccan Agate present with both a gentle flowing characteristic and swirling, plume-like layered patterns that really draw you in to take a closer look.  Another fascinating attribute of this excellent example of a Moroccan Agate is the translucency and transparency, i.e. the clear areas of the specimen that are most evident around the beautiful crystalline pocket and the swirling formations.  The bright red, flowing, banding provides a striking contrast to the white formations and the quartz crystalline pocket.  Normal for this type of agate, there are minute, almost indistinguishable unless magnified, natural hairline stress fractures appearing in the agate that do not take anything away from powerful aesthetic of the agate.. The polish on this specimen is outstanding.   261 grams.

Source:  Volcanic outcrops in and near Agouim, Ighrem N'Ougdal Caidat, Amerzgane Cercle, Ouarzazate Province, Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco. 

Agate is primarily a microcrystalline quartz var. chalcedony most frequently found within volcanic and metamorphic rocks.  Moroccan Agates often feature many different formations, patterns, structures and an incredibly vast number of colors.
