This Vesuvianite specimen is nearly a "floater" in that where contact was made with another crystal or matrix is not significantly prevalent, nor clearly obvious enough to definitively state that it was separated from another mineral. * Truly a higher grade example of a Vesuvianite crystal from Mail, above and beyond in quality than the norm of what is usually available from this location. Rich hues of yellow-gold, yellow-green, honey-brown color.
Extraordinarily large Vesuvianite crystals like this one are a less common occurrence. When Vesuvianite crystals are found this large they frequently show considerable roughness with numerous pitting. While some roughness and pitting is present on this specimen, the luster on the side facets somewhat muted, what sets this Vesuvianite specimen apart from others in quality is that the majority of the top and bottom surfaces; facets, faces and terminations, are smooth and very lustrous. * Released from our personal collection, this Vesuvianite is extraordinary in that many of the faces exhibit remarkable, smooth and very lustrous faces and well defined edges.
