Unusual Quartz Pyrite Siderite Crystals Lustrous Portugal 247 grams

This is a large, lustrous, unusually formed Quartz crystal that features siderite blades mixed amongst small, sparkling pyrite crystals around much of the surface of the beautiful specimen. 5.04" x 2.61" x 1.39" or 128.1mm x 66.4mm x 35.4mm.  Pyrite and chalcopyrite crystals present nestled in the siderite across the top and as an oval cluster on the self healed underside of the specimen.  This gorgeous quartz is unusual in that it appears to have grown with a curved shape around another crystal or host rock (contact) and then separated from the host rock to self heal with a scaled, triangular, stepped growth formation, almost to show with an "elestial" presence.  This Quartz, Pyrite and Siderite specimen is very intriguing and unusual! You'll be further amazed by the excellence of this specimen with close examination and when you get a magnified look with a triplet loupe!  The quartz is terminated, and due to the scaled, stepped or elestial growth, the quartz appears almost double terminated.  We don't see any damage to the quartz of this specimen, only very natural interesting presence as the quartz grew originally and where it self healed; see further explanation about self healed quartz crystals in our description for this listing. Crystals of this type may be considered rare due to the uncommon occurrences of self healing.  247 grams.  Click to buy!

 Definitions of "Self Healed" Crystals.

There are Self Healed Base Quartz Crystals and Self Healed Termination / Face Quartz Crystals...the specimen in this listing could be categorized under both types!

Self Healed Base Quartz Crystals.  These are crystals that during their growth cycle are naturally separated from their matrix or host rock ( exposure to naturally occurring high heat or earthquake exposure for instance ).  They self heal their bottoms in either crystalline form, or they develop scaled, triangular, etched or stepped bottoms.  Both are easy to recognize as the bottom of the crystal does not have a snapped or clean broken look about them.

Self Healed Terminations / Face Quartz Crystals.  These crystals have either had their termination, or one face or more of their terminations naturally altered ( exposure to naturally occurring high heat or earthquake exposure for instance ). Once again the crystals either heal themselves with a crystalline finish, or a smoothed off, scaled, triangular, etched or stepped finish.
