Rare Pink Amethyst Geode Large Double Terminated 207g

Size matters. Shown here is a rare occurrence of a large, zoned, well formed, double terminated Pink Amethyst crystal in a geode. We don't use the word rare unless absolutely merited, and this exceptional representative of Pink Amethyst definitely is outside the norm. Nestled in this excellent specimen and appearing near the inside edge of the pocket is a very rarely seen just over one inch double terminated Pink Amethyst crystal (unquestionably large for Pink Amethyst!) with smaller secondary growth crystals growing from the middle of the facets.  Adding to the the exceptional presence of the large size DT crystal is the dark pink zoning of the faces and both terminations.  Elsewhere in the geode are beautiful, also zoned, larger size Pink Amethyst crystals, some with unusual dark reddish crystalline Hematite inclusions and scattered encrustations. The fascinating zoning is evident in the faces and terminations of those crystals as well. While any occurrence of double terminated crystals presenting in Pink Amethyst geodes is representative of higher quality examples of the species, a double terminated Pink Amethyst crystal over one inch in length is exceedingly rare.^^  Fine shine, beautiful luster on the crystal faces too. Here is your opportunity to obtain a truly extraordinary example of a Pink Amethyst specimen for your collection or to give to the discerning mineral enthusiast.

^^ Color and Formation
* Though color is of higher regard, it does not solely define the grade or quality of each pink amethyst specimen as a whole. With that stated, we feel that when giving description with accuracy, the description of Pink Amethyst specimens must reference the possible variable color or intensities of pink hues that may be present; pink, pale lilac-pink, zoned peachy-pink, mauve-pink, deep dark pink, and even an almost red-pink. Varying levels of Hematite result in the presenting of varying intensities of pink color in Pink Amethyst.

Formation.  The condition of the facets, faces and terminations (tips / points) of the crystals is also is a very important factor when determining the overall quality of any Pink Amethyst Geode Crystals specimen. The clarity and characteristics of the crystals is another major consideration when determining quality too.  The presence of formations like double terminated crystals, rosettes and bridge structures are also representative of higher grade specimens.
