The incredible inclusions of bright orange-red hematite are an awesome, distinctive feature of this type of Thunder Bay District amethyst from the Dorian Mine. The hematite most often presents from within the crystals rather than as a layer on the crystals.
The crystals in Thunder Bay Amethyst form in tight clusters with gorgeous formations that may present like radiating petals of flowers. The crystals are very showy as they seem to grow as undulating groupings across the surface of the quartz matrix base or on a thin plate of host rock.
