Brilliant Octahedral Pyrite Mirror Luster Galena Crystals 217g

This is a brilliant, superb, quality octahedral Pyrite cluster with excellent, extremely  right silver metallic mirror luster, and isolated occurrences of rounded edged dodecahedral Galena crystals. Curiously, the Galena has grown into and filled in some of the naturally occurring fractures in the Pyrite.  Many of the faces of the well formed octahedral Pyrite crystals are smooth and brightly reflective, other faces, while exhibiting the same higher quality brilliance, present a fascinating etched like, maze looking polycrystalline growth. Typical cleaving by miners on underside of specimen.

2.67" x 2.15" x 1.65" or 67.9mm x 54.6mm x 41.8mm, 217 grams

Locality: Huanzala Mine, Huallanca, Bolognesi Province, Ancash, Peru.

* All of the faces of these crystals are very brightly reflective. Some of the terminations and edges present with an intriguing, naturally occurring beveled structure and are not artificially altered in any way.

* Important to note is that this specimen is truly higher quality Pyrite with typical roughness or what could be considered cleaving damage isolated to the underside and some sides or edge contact areas of the piece that occurred during the process of extraction and separation from matrix by the miners.  Those crystals, or focal crystals in the center of this specimen present cleanly, with a natural polycrystalline presence.
