This is an unusual, high quality Calcite and Pink Amethyst Geode combination specimen with exceptionally lustrous manganese included calcite crystals. 3.54" x 2.68" x 2.1" or 90mm x 68.2mm x 53.5mm deep.  This larger size geode (for this type of specimen) presents with an abundance and dominant number of sparkling scalenohedral calcite crystals (at least one of which is double terminated) in proportion to the smaller number of satin surfaced pink amethyst crystals. In our opinion, the special uniqueness of this specimen should make it particularly interesting to the discerning mineral specimen collector. The terminations of the crystals in this specimen are excellent. As documented by many peer reviewed studies and publications, including The Mineralogical Record, the darker the Pink Amethyst crystals, the more they are considered by many mineral specimen collectors, and the miners that find them, as higher in quality.  Though color is of highest regard, it does not solely define the grade or quality of each specimen as a whole. With that stated, we feel that when giving description with accuracy, the description of Pink Amethyst specimens must reference the possible variable color or intensities of pink hues that may be present; pink, pale lilac-pink, zoned peachy-pink, mauve-pink, deep dark pink, and even an almost red-pink. Varying levels of Hematite result in the presenting of varying intensities of pink color in Pink Amethyst.
