This is a fine example of a larger size cabinet specimen of Quartz var. Amethyst aka "Grape Agate", presenting with well formed botryoidal, spherical Amethyst on all sides. Most currently, through further peer reviewed, mineralogical study and agreement, this is Quartz var. Amethyst rather than Quartz var. Chalcedony. See the very informative article in The Mineralogical Record, Vol. 49, No. 6, pp. 827-836. Botryoidal Amethyst is a less common occurrence. Displays very nicely. Quartz var.
