Cerussite Twinning Crystals Orange Barite Galena Morocco 292g
This is a superb specimen, showing multiple examples of twinned translucent Cerussite crystals amongst blades of orange-pink Barite growing on Galena from the Les Dalles Mine in Morocco. A larger size piece, this one measures: 3.8" x 2.4" x 1.2" or 96.5mm x 61mm x 30.5mm. Weighs 292 grams.
The gray-black Galena, some areas in this piece showing a metallic luster, is not only the "mother" mineral for the secondary lead carbonate mineral Cerussite, it provides a nice contrast for the orange-pink Barite and Cerussite crystals. The Cerussite crystals in this excellent specimen present variably as a distinctive translucent white, lightly yellow tinted hue, many of which are lustrous while others are coated with an orange iron oxide also appearing on the Barite.
