Important to note is that this specimen is presented without being attached with mineral tack to an acrylic base due to the majority of the occurrence of Dumortierite is evident on and in the sides and base of the crystal. Some smaller secondary growth crystals are evident all around the Quartz. Since the primary focus is on the presence of Dumortierite in and on the Quartz, and due to the methods of those in Brazil extracting the crystals, it is common that the facets, faces and terminations of the Quartz frequently exhibit small dings and areas of contact. 

When it comes to the presence of the color blue in quartz, Dumortierite Quartz (“Dumortierite in Quartz” or “Dumortierite included Quartz”) is one of the less common occurrences. While fundamentally in the orthorhombic crystal system, Dumortierite growth may be massive or radiating and fibrous.
