Color
As documented by many peer reviewed studies and publications, including The Mineralogical Record, the darker the Pink Amethyst crystals, the more they are considered by many mineral specimen collectors, and the miners that find them, as higher in quality. Though color is of highest regard, it does not solely define the grade or quality of each specimen as a whole. With that stated, we feel that when giving description with accuracy, the description of Pink Amethyst specimens must reference the possible variable color or intensities of pink hues that may be present; pink, pale lilac-pink, zoned peachy-pink, mauve-pink, deep dark pink, and even an almost red-pink. Varying levels of Hematite / iron result in the presenting of varying intensities of pink color in Pink Amethyst.

Crystal Formation - The condition of the facets, faces and terminations (tips / points) of the crystals is also is a very important factor when determining the overall quality of any Pink Amethyst Geode Crystals specimen. Formations such as rosettes, radiating rosette "balls" of crystals, bridges of crystals, and double terminated Pink Amethyst crystals are less common and considered features in higher grade specimens. The clarity and characteristics of the crystals is another major consideration when determining quality too.
